Compute PIF Market Values
The Compute PIF Market Values routine computes new market values for all gifts to the selected pooled income fund.
Run this routine at any time to update the current market value of each gift to the fund. You may want to use this information periodically to inform each donor/participant in your fund of the value of their units. You will also want to compute PIF market values each time a gift to a pooled fund terminates so that you know how much to transfer from the PIF account and distribute to the fund's charitable remainderman.
1. Click PIF > Compute PIF Market Values in the Menu Bar.
2. Enter selection and calculation criteria to adjust pooled fund market values as you desire. There is help available on each field.
3. Click OK.
4. Choose one of the following:
Do not save new values.
Save new values in each gift record.
Save the new PIF market values in the Market Value field of each respective gift record.
Save new values in each gift record and in the historical table.
Save the new PIF market values in the Market Value field of each respective gift record, and as historical market values for each corresponding gift record. Doing so will allow you to report, review, or recover these values at any later time.
5. Click OK.
6. Click Close in the Compute PIF Market Values window to close the function.
Notes:
· For a gift to be included in the calculations, the following must be true in addition to any selection criteria entered in the function window:
Gift Date is less than or equal to Valuation Date
Gift Status is Current or Gift Status is Finished/Severed and either Account Closed Date is greater than or equal to Valuation Date, or if Exclude Finished/Severed Gifts with Account Closed Date Equal to Valuation Date is checked, then Account Closed Date is greater than Valuation Date
· This routine computes the value stored in each pooled fund gift Market Value field by multiplying the current dollar value of one unit by the number of units stored in the Units field for the gift. This routine also enters the date of unit valuation in each gift Market Value Date field. The Market Value, Market Value Date, and Units field are in the General tab of each gift Gift Information screen.
